About me

Hi. I’m Hugh.

I’m a multidisciplinary designer – interaction and creative – with background in multiple roles and design disciplines.

I started my career as an interaction designer – right at the dawn of the age of digital media. Since then, have worked in startups, media companies, design studios and creative agencies.

I understand designers, and love building and managing teams, and all that entails to keep designers happy, growing in their careers, and doing great work.


AJ+ / Al Jazeera Media Network 2014-18
Launched AJ+ – Al Jazeera’s youth-focused digital network, as well as Jetty – a podcast network, Contrast – an immersive media division, and Sadeem – A Gen Z social influencer competition.

Built Al Jazeera’s product design team from scratch, and led design for all network digital products.

Imagine That Design, 2008-2014
Led design for brand, digital products, and motion graphics at an independent creative studio.

The Santa Barbara Independent, 2004-06
Editorial art direction and design for digital and print editions of an alt-weekly newspaper.

Lot21, 1998-2001
Advertising art direction for one of the first digital-focused ad agencies.

CNET Networks, 1996-98
